Donald Averill joined PPL Inc. in 2008 as a Vice President for Southern California following his retirement as Chancellor of the San Bernardino Community College District. Don became the President of PPL Inc. in 2012 and served in that position until 2020. During this period, PPL Inc developed its consulting services and webpage, establishing itself as a premier search firm for California community colleges, and developed operating procedures for the company. Don retired and became an Emeritus Owner in January 2021.
Donald Averill’s education experience was forty-seven years, including K-12 and community college education. Don contributed extensively to vocational and career education development, economic development, human resource development, foundation development, and college construction.
Don was active in PPL Inc. in consultation, interim assignments, and searches throughout California. He had extensive experience in accreditation, human resources, and search activities. The Chancellors’ Office of the California Community Colleges recognized Don for his work on diversity and his contributions to economic development. His colleagues recognized his leadership by awarding him the Harry Buttimer Award in 2009.
